Classes

Welcome to the class page for each of our classes at Ingoldsby Academy.

At Ingoldsby, we may be small but have the greatest expectations for all of our children to achieve exceptional outcomes.  Underpinned by a culture of positive relationships and our school values of Courage, Aspire, Ambition and Respect, together our staff and children strive to exceed the limitations of potential.

All staff at Ingoldsby Academy recognise that children’s time in school is finite and are focused on ensuring that learning is robust and rigorous.  Our inspiring teachers communicate their passion for subjects through their teaching of a coherent and well crafted knowledge-rich curriculum, which is enhanced to meet the needs of individual learners’ talents and builds the foundation for their future.  Within lessons, teachers aim to deliver lessons which are explicitly taught and modelled; retrieve and build upon prior learning; are structured, scaffolded and carefully adapted to maximise the learning opportunities; resources are utilised effectively and teachers give constructive feedback to help children aspire to develop and improve their learning.

Our school environment reflects the high expectations we have for our children through the visible learning evidenced on working walls, which demonstrate how knowledge builds over time; the vocabulary rich classrooms and our displays and shared spaces.

Early Years

Mrs Collins and Ms Schofield teach Red Kites, overseen by Mrs Capes (our Early Years Manager)

Red Kites Class is a stimulating environment for our Reception children.

We have so much fun in Red Kites, learning through play both indoors and outdoors. Our classroom is colourful and inspiring. It is divided into different areas of learning, incorporating our 'magic maths area', writing station, an inviting reading area, a fun creative zone and our ever-changing roleplay area. We have our own outdoor area where we can play in our wooden play-cottage, build with the construction materials; sticks, planks and tyres, dig in our garden, relax in the cosy corner with a book, get messy in our mud kitchen or have a splash in the water area!

We value everybody's interests in Red Kites. We learn and explore in exciting ways that motivate and challenge. In Red Kites we aim to instil in all children, a love of learning that will prepare them for their next steps in their learning journey through school.

Falcon Class

Mrs Glendinning teaches our Years 1 and 2 supported by Mrs Bland and Miss Sharples.

Our stimulating classroom environment is a fantastic setting to learn in!

We are all budding authors in Falcon class and we love creative writing projects.

A love of reading and books are encouraged so we read as individuals, groups and as a class.  We value reading for enjoyment alongside developing secure phonic strategies.

We enjoy practical activities and get excited about learning new things.  We do love to take on a challenge!

Supporting each other along our learning journeys and learning through paired and group activities play a key role in developing and talking and thinking skills as well as our ability to cooperate and work as a team.

Kestrel Class

This is our Year 3 & 4 class taught by Miss Newton

Welcome to our classroom – an inclusive and engaging place where we challenge ourselves and push our learning forward at every opportunity.

We love spending time outdoors, taking advantage of our environment and incorporating it into our everyday learning.

Buzzard Class

This is our Year 5 & 6 class taught by Miss Semper

Every Buzzard tries their best to be a positive role model for others in the school, both in our in class learning, and also out in the playground or common areas – being a supportive and caring friend to all pupils.

All children in our classroom are supported in their goal of becoming independent and confident learners. At all opportunities we try to inspire curiosity - relating to both our learning and the wider world.

Reading is an important part of our day. Not only do we read, but we have a true passion for it and have become confident readers who both love to read and find enjoyment in it.
